Growing Zucchini

By Mandy and Tony

For years we have been planting zucchini seeds or seedlings - usually 3 plants.

Would produce about a dozen zucchini before they wilted and died.

Then, last season we were lucky enough to be given a climbing zucchini seedling by Tony Capponi.

Were thrilled when this one plant took off, over a very large rio frame smothering everything in its wake. It obviously loved the sunny position and good soil and went on to amaze and surprise with the number and quality of a vast number of fruit - most likely over 100.

We were able to provide the majority of these to a large number of friends and, at times, people we didn’t even know.

The large zucchini in the photo below is one we have nurtured and kept for seeds which will be available to those who want them.
